ISW GmbH is founded on an 861-square-foot site in Elmshorn, Germany. The company handles sales and applications development for Itran Image Processing Systems. Merger of Itran with Automatix to form Acuity Imaging; development of the image processing platform Visionscape.
ISW moves to Kölln-Reisiek into an expanded 1,292-square-foot facility.
ISW launches its first data matrix application. Johnson & Johnson in Kiel is its first customer. Itran merges with image-processing provider Automatix to become Acuity Imaging. The image-processing platform Visionscape is developed.
ISW equips manufacturing lines with image processing solutions for customers that export their systems worldwide.
Acuity Imaging takes over the companies I.D. Matrix (developer of Data Matrix Codes), Computer Identics (bar code scanners), Northeast Robotics (NERLITE Lighting Technology) and Vanguard (market leader for soldering machines used in electronics applications).
The merged company changes its name to RVSI (Robotic Vision Systems Inc.) and initiates its first public offering on the stock exchange. ISW presents its proprietary high-speed image-processing systems to the tobacco industry. ISW focuses on Data Matrix applications.

Together with leading manufacturers in the areas of labeling, coding and machine vision, ISW establishes the SVRC (Symbology and Vision Research Center), with the goal of offering full-service Auto ID solutions. The company facility is expanded to 11,840 square feet.
