BOBA – Bottom of basket agent

Statistical studies have shown that it is not uncommon for customers in retail to forget to place all the goods in the shopping trolley on the checkout belt and to pay for them. Small but possibly expensive goods thus leave the retail trade unregistered and lead to damages in the high seven-digit range.
Due to modern checkout counters without mirror foils and transparent glasses, it is often impossible for employees at the checkout to convince themselves of the empty state by looking into the shopping trolley.

The BOBA (Bottom Of Basket Agent) from ISW GmbH offers a solution for this. Constructed as a passive, inconspicuous and modular monitoring system, the employee at the checkout is not shown a video image, as is the case with conventional systems, but only a still image of the shopping trolley at the moment it passes the checkout area (DSGVO-compliant, no recording of persons). The camera image is preferably displayed on the monitor of the checkout computer, alternatively it can also be displayed on a separately attached monitor.
In addition, the BOBA offers artificial intelligence that can even distinguish full shopping trolleys from empty ones. Through this speciality, the employee at the checkout can either only be shown images of non-empty shopping trolleys or alternatively only a coloured traffic light without any camera image to report a non-empty shopping trolley that has just passed the checkout.
With this solution, losses due to unrecorded goods in the checkout area can be traceably reduced, and ideally even avoided altogether.

Quality is our claim. Especially for products that are manufactured in large quantities! Therefore, in the case of the BOBA (Bottom of Basket Agent), we have developed a sophisticated routine that leaves nothing to chance during production.
